The much awaited OLED TV to launch in 2012

In the CES 2012, electronics majors Samsung and LG shows off the much awaited OLED TV. These TVs use organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens which can make the screens extremely thin. It is the latest technology in the field of televisions which was in research since many years. The picture quality of OLED TV is simply awesome and can present highly saturated colors and a nearly perfect black.

It will be now interesting to see who will first launch this amazing TV. LG is believed to be launching it near the fourth quarter of this year while Samsung has still not revealed any tentative dates. But, as Samsung is already a global leader in the TV segment, it can be expected that Samsung will once again lead the market by launching it before anyone else. Though, it is also possible that LG might be playing a game by giving a tentative date and may launch it much before that to beat the Samsung’s plan. Well, that we will come to know in the days to come. So, for now let’s wait till the next big announcement comes.

Though, all these gadgets were launched in 2011 but they will also remain popular in 2012.

Software giant Microsoft has acquired ‘Skype’, an Internet communication company in $8.5 billion and announced the acquisition on October 14, 2011. Microsoft acquired SkypeIt has been the largest ever acquisition deal for Microsoft to buy the amazing brand that is used extensively by millions of people around the world to stay connected with family, friends and clients. Skype has more than 600 million people as their registered users. It is expected that Skype CEO ‘Tony Bates’ will head the Skype Division in Microsoft for bringing together the best of Microsoft and of Skype.

In the future, it is expected that Skype will be integrated across different Microsoft products to broaden Skype’s reach and make it as a fundamental way for people to communicate online. Tim Cook, the Apple CEO

Timothy D. Cook, famous by the name ‘Tim Cook’, the current CEO of Apple Inc., was born on November 1, 1960 and joined Apple in March 1998. Steve Jobs, the creator and soul of Apple, resigned from the post of CEO on August 24, 2011 and recommended Tim Cook’s name to replace his role. Tim CookTim Cook was already serving as a COO (Chief Operating Officer) and was responsible for the company’s worldwide sales and operations. Before joining Apple, Tim was serving as the Vice President with Compaq.

Tim Cook is an industrial engineer who earned his MBA degree from Duke University in 1988. He also headed Apple’s Macintosh division and played a key role in ensuring the development and innovation to an increasingly demanding marketplace. Now, Tim Cook is expected to unveil the much awaited iPhone 5 in October this year. Though, the news is still not confirmed and it is expected that there could be other devices (new iPod or iPad 3) as well along with iPhone 5.
