Google Buzz, a social networking and micro-blogging tool from internet giant ‘Google’, which was launched in February 2010 will be out of service within few weeks. Google announced this news on October 14, 2011 as a measure to focus solely on Google+. Earlier this year, Google announced that it may shutdown some of the products and services which are not widely used and may merge few of its services into existing products as additional features. In June 2011, Google launched Google+, another social networking platform which received a good response from users. Because of wider acceptance, Google is planning to focus on Google plus to make it more appealing and discontinuing older service ‘Buzz’.
According to the official Google Blog, “People won’t be able to create new posts after the shut down, they will be able to view their existing content on their Google Profile, and download it using Google Takeout.” Apart from Google Buzz, Google will also discontinue few other products, Code Search, Jaiku, iGoogle’s social features from iGoogle and some other products will be replaced by other products.
Will shutting down Buzz can help Google+ create a buzz?
