Toshiba, the world’s fourth biggest notebook PC vendor, unveiled the Libretto W100, a dual-screened 7 inch mini notebook PC that can also be used as an e-book reader. This new gadget will add to competition for the likes of Apple Corp’s iPad and Amazon.com’s Kindle, which can be used like a conventional clam-style notebook PC with a software keyboard. The two multi-touch screens can work separately to surf the web on one and compose a mail on the other or together to act like a book or newspaper.
The Libretto runs Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium with 1.2GHz Intel Pentium U5400 processor, 2GB of DDR3 (double-data rate) memory and a 62GB solid-state drive. It also incorporates 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 1MP camera with face recognition and 1 USB port. This new touch-screen gadget is expected to go on sale in Japan in late August and later in Europe, the United States and other markets. Toshiba targeted global PC shipments of 25 million units in the year by March 2011. Watch out the below video to know more about Libretto W100.
